EDITING: FICTION AND NON-FICTION
Any piece of narrative fiction - short stories, novels, and screenplays - as well as non-fiction, such as speeches, articles, term papers, reports, oral presentations, and even opening and closing arguments can involve so much research and information it can be difficult to know where to begin or how to organize the material for optimal emphasis.
Editing is crucial. I will help you cull the good ideas from the bad, eliminate the flab of redundancy and excess words, and combine sentences for emphasis and clarity; together we will develop the variety in your sentence structure and word choice that will make your writing more readable and exciting and achieve the emphasis you desire. Your work will employ correct usage and punctuation and maximal word choice and phrasing. Paragraphing will be tight and the overall presentation professional.
STAYING THE COURSE
Too often, clients feel either abandoned by their consultants or relegated to back-burner status after the initial work is over. I pride myself on follow-through, on being available to help you with whatever problems arise. We are, of course, always working toward a greater feeling of self-sufficiency on your part, but knowing that you have someone to run things by, to consult with, someone who will stay involved and help do the hard work of making it right, hopefully brings a peace of mind unique to my services.
TUTORING and COLLEGE ESSAYS
I have had terrific success tutoring a variety of students (including adults) in everything from writing and language skills, to math concepts like percentages, fractions, and algebra. I have been particularly successful with students transitioning from Elementary to Middle School and Middle School to High School. Together, my students and I have had many, "Oh, now I get it!" moments that are particularly gratifying.
